Sun and Spring in January — Visual design, Astrup Fearnley

While working at mimosa—studio, Karoline Bakken Lund and I won the pitch for visual design for Sun and Spring in January – Next Generation in Norwegian Contemporary Art: A massive show at Astrup Fearnley Museet, showcasing seven young Norwegian artists, alongside seven writers. I was in my last trimester at the time and I felt extremely thankful towards Nina Magnus (their in-house graphic designer) who still wanted to hire me.

The show opened on January 25, 2019, and I brought my then three-month-old daughter in a baby carrier. She slept through the whole thing. It was quite surreal to see the visual identity we had developed being diplayed on so many different surfaces. The somewhat intricate catalogue design that we designed was brought to life by the brilliant Sara Risvåg, who filled in for me while on mat leave. You can view parts of the publication at Sara's website, here.

We decided on a catalogue with seven different sections, all "wrapped" in its own little envelope. The font used throughout is GT Pressura, by Grilli Type and Neue Plak (Astrup Fearnley's signature font). We also got to design our own exhibition net, a green, beautiful thing, with the signature camouflage print and lettering in white. Surreal.
